OK2BME: OUT In SchoolsOK2BME: OUT In Schools

Is your school welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) youth and families? OK2BME can help!

OK2BME is proud to announce a new 2 year project called OK2BME: OUT In Schools in partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board, funded by the Astley Family Foundation.

This project assists grade 7-8 Public Schools in Waterloo Region in starting and sustaining GSAs (Gay-Straight Alliances) in their schools. The project will also involve the creation of a website and resources for the Waterloo Region GSA Network, a joint initiative of OK2BME and the Waterloo Region District School Board.

OK2BME: OUT In Schools can provide grade 7-8 schools with:

  • The “How To” behind starting a GSA
  • Ideas and strategies to sustain your GSA
  • GSA posters and related resources
  • Ongoing consultation
  • Ways to engage youth leaders
  • Classroom workshops and presentations
  • Staff trainings tailored to your school’s needs
