Being Out, Washrooms, Normal

When you are gay and out it may be hard. When you are out you always have to tell people all the time. Sometimes it may be easier than other times because people react differently. Public Washrooms are everyday things for those who go to the mall, a restaurant, school, work, etc. But when you are gay it may not be the best. Define “NORMAL”. Everyone has a different way of explaining it. Just because you are gay does not mean that you are different.

If you are gay and are out it can be very hard. Being out is not always that easy. As a youth being out can be very hard as you never know what to expect. Even if you are out and you’re not a youth, it can still be hard. You don’t know what to expect from people around you. Some people may not care that you are gay and treat you the same as anyone else. Some people may HATE you because you are gay and make fun of you for it just because you are gay and no other reason. They may call you names like FAGGOT or FAG, DYKE or LESBO. Sometimes you can’t always forget when someone says something like that to you. You may feel like those words will never leave your mind when they have been said to you. Even when there is no one around, they are still going through your mind and it hurts a lot.

To you this may seem like an everyday thing, “Going to the Washroom”. There is a Men’s and a Women’s Washroom. Girls/women go to the women’s washroom and boys/men go to the men’s washroom. What is wrong with that? Well, if you’re gay. lesbian, trans, or if you look more like a male than a female, or more female than a male, it can be hard for you to pick which washroom to go into. You may have a fear of walking into the right washroom and being chased into the washroom by someone and they tell you that you’ve gone into the wrong washroom and that you shouldn’t be in here and that you should go into the other washroom when you are going into the right one. You may feel that when you go into the right washroom that if there are people inside that they may look at you funny, like you don’t belong, and say things to you and other people that are around them when you’re not looking. It is okay to feel like this because you are not the only one who feels this way.

When you are gay you may go through a time in your life when you just wish that you could be “NORMAL” and not be gay. Well being gay is “NORMAL”. It is who you are and there is nothing wrong with being gay. You are like every other person Straight or Gay. Everyone is the same and no one is better than anyone. You just have to find the right people to help you through the rough times. Things make sense when you get older and you can find more people that are like you

If you are straight imagine being gay for one day and see how things can change for you and how people may treat you differently. How many of your friends will still want to be your friend if you were gay? But those who mind not matter and those who matter not mind.
